Central Licensing Management

Last year HZD implemented a central licensing management system. This new service will provide system assistance with optimized processes according to ISO standard 19770. From 2018, the HZD will be offering its customers this new service, Central Licensing Management.

The goal of centralized license management is to provide transparency, legal certainty and license compliance to avoid the additional requirements for software vendors. The economics of licensing takes centre stage. It will also provide customers in-house consulting that will support strategic orientation of the software deployment.

Providing standard client license packages for more than 68,000 employees in the country, the Hessen PC was the driving force for a central licensing management. In this context, the HZD installed the central licensing office in-house. This optimized the relevant business processes according to the ISO standard and required the implementation of a tool for software asset management (SAM).

The HZD plans to offer license management services within Hessen from 2018. With the establishment of the Central Licensing Office in the HZD and the development of this service, Hessen is taking a major step closer to nationwide license management.
