Dataport and DVZ agree on strategic cooperation for digital public administration
Two German Euritas members deepen their cooperation for a digitally sovereign public administration in Europe
Dataport and Datenverarbeitungszentrum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH (DVZ M-V GmbH) – both members of Euritas, the European association of public sector IT service providers – have signed a cooperation agreement to intensify their collaboration on the digitalisation of public administration in Schwerin.
The aim of the agreement is to pool expertise, drive forward innovation and strengthen the development of modern digital administrative services in the interest of citizens, businesses and public administration.
The agreement creates the framework for close cooperation, in particular on the further development and use of artificial intelligence (AI), on platforms for digital administrative services, and on selected procurement and infrastructure topics. The cooperation is based on public-public collaboration founded on shared interests and a long-term strategic partnership.
Signing Ceremony with clear focus
The agreement was signed by Dr Heiko Geue, Minister of Finance and Digitalisation of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Dirk Schrödter, Minister for Digitalisation and Head of the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein, Dr Johann Bizer, Chairman of the Management Board of Dataport, and Hubert Ludwig, Managing Director of DVZ M-V GmbH.
Both IT service providers also see the agreement as an important step for further digitalisation. Dr Johann Bizer explained: “The north is moving closer together. We are deepening our good cooperation with DVZ. Both of us want to advance digital public administration in the north through exchange and collaboration. The cooperation agreement is both an expression and a foundation of this strategic direction.”
Hubert Ludwig added: “The cooperation agreement with Dataport is an important step for the cross-state development of digital public administration in the northern German alliance. It combines joint projects with the clear goal of sustainably strengthening cooperation among public sector IT service providers. Whether in the Nordstern programme or the German Administration Cloud: we are pooling our expertise to tackle bigger challenges together and create future-proof solutions for public administration.”
A joint steering committee will be set up for strategic governance. It will oversee the implementation of specific projects, set priorities and ensure the continuous development of the cooperation.
Contribution to the Euritas Mission
With this cooperation, Dataport and DVZ are also sending a strong signal in support of the goals of Euritas. Euritas sees itself as the voice and network of public IT service providers in Europe and pursues, among other aims, the goal of fostering exchange and cooperation between its members and developing cross-border projects for innovative IT solutions. The northern German partnership between Dataport and DVZ shows, in practice, how public IT service providers can put this very mission into action at a regional level by pooling their expertise – contributing to a digitally sovereign and capable public administration across Europe.
With this agreement, Dataport and DVZ reaffirm their commitment to jointly advancing the digitalisation of public administration and creating lasting added value for their public bodies, administrations, and citizens – thereby also making an active contribution to the mission of Euritas: connecting public sector IT service providers across Europe and jointly creating better digital services for administrations, businesses and citizens.
