EURITAS Strengthens Dialogue with Global Technology Vendors at London General Committee Meeting

Representatives of 15 public IT organisations from 13 European countries gathered in London on 29–30 October for the EURITAS General Committee meeting, hosted by Shared Government Services. The two-day meeting focused on strategic challenges facing public sector IT providers, with particular attention to relations with global technology vendors, digital sovereignty and the changing role of IT professionals in the age of artificial intelligence.

Engaging with Global Technology Vendors

A central part of the meeting was dedicated to consultations with representatives of Microsoft, SAP and Broadcom, reflecting EURITAS’s commitment to representing the shared interests of European public IT service providers through direct and structured dialogue with major technology companies.

The discussions addressed key concerns previously identified by EURITAS members, including digital sovereignty and technological independence, long-term product and service development strategies, licensing policies and their implications for the sustainability of public sector IT systems.

Representatives of the three companies responded to these concerns and shared their perspectives on future developments, providing an opportunity for an open exchange on the expectations of public sector customers and the strategies of global technology vendors.

“For EURITAS, these consultations represent an important step towards strengthening the collective voice of its members and establishing a more structured relationship with technology suppliers whose decisions have a direct impact on Europe’s public digital infrastructure. Our aim is to build a constructive dialogue that reflects the specific responsibilities and needs of the public sector,” said Peder Wiese, President of EURITAS.

Knowledge Exchange and the Future of IT Professions

The second day focused on EURITAS activities and cooperation among member organisations.

Members reflected on the second EURITAS Exchange Day, held in October, and its role in facilitating the exchange of knowledge, practical experience and good practices among public IT organisations across Europe.

Another important topic was the impact of artificial intelligence on IT job profiles and the skills required in the years ahead.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into everyday operations, it is reshaping existing processes, professional roles and workforce requirements. For public IT organisations responsible for critical digital services, understanding these changes and preparing employees for new technological demands is becoming an important part of long-term workforce planning.

The discussions highlighted the value of sharing experiences and approaches across EURITAS member organisations as they navigate these changes.

Working Together on Shared Priorities

The London meeting once again demonstrated the value of EURITAS as a platform for cooperation among European public IT service providers. By combining direct engagement with major technology vendors and practical knowledge exchange among members, EURITAS continues to strengthen its role in addressing the common challenges facing public sector digitalisation.

EURITAS extends its sincere thanks to Shared Government Services for hosting the meeting and for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality in London.
