Lorraine McNerney

Lorraine McNerney is the Head of Data Governance at the Office of the Irish Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) where her role includes advancing Ireland’s digital government agenda, supporting the implementation of Connecting Government 2030 and the Better Public Services strategy. Her work is centred on unlocking the value of public sector data throughout its lifecycle – ensuring it is well-governed, secure and ethically managed, particularly in the context of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Lorraine leads the implementation of Ireland’s Data Sharing and Governance Act, provides secretariat for the national Data Governance Board, and actively contributes to data policy at national, EU and UN levels. Her work supports alignment with the EU Data Strategy and the Data Governance Act.

Previously, Lorraine served as Chief Information Officer at Ordnance Survey Ireland and was Co-Chair of the United Nations Expert Group on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information.
